Lights & automation
The house is smart. Lights can be controlled in three ways:
- Automatically (motion and time).
- Manually with the wall switches — just like a normal house.
- From an app, using the temporary account we send you before arrival.
Most of the time you'll just let the automation run and use the switches when you want to override it.
Automatic lights
These turn on and off by themselves:
- Entrance and hallway — come on when you arrive, fade out a few minutes after no motion.
- Staircases and corridors — same idea, for safety at night.
- Bathrooms — on when you walk in, off when you leave.
The logic is designed so you rarely have to think about the lights. If you want to swim in the dark or sleep in a corridor, see the "Override" section below.
Manual control with switches
Every light still has a physical wall switch. These override the automation:
- Press off while a light is on → the light turns off and stays off until you press it again. Good for a completely dark room at night.
- Press on while a light is off → the light comes on and stays on, regardless of motion. Good for reading, cooking or just a cosy evening.
The automation resets to normal behaviour each morning (around 06:00), so you don't wake up to a light blinking on because a switch was left in an override position.
From the app (temporary user)
Your welcome message includes a login for a temporary account in our smart-home app. With it you can:
- Turn rooms on and off individually without walking there.
- Dim the lights (some of them are variable).
- See which lights are currently on — handy at bedtime.
Your account expires at checkout and has access to lights only — not locks, cameras or any other system.
If something's behaving oddly
A light that won't turn off in a room you're not in? 99% of the time it's because a switch is stuck in "manual-on" from earlier. One press → off. Press again → back on automation.
