Arrival & digital locks
Every external door on the house uses a digital lock. You don't need a key — just a four-digit code.
Before arrival
The day before check-in we send you:
- Your personal access code (valid from check-in to check-out).
- The WiFi network name and password.
- Login for a temporary smart-home account (see the next section on lights).
- The address with a map link.
Check your Airbnb messages or the email you booked with. Please don't share the code with anyone who isn't actually staying — it's tied to your booking and logged.
On arrival
- Pull into the driveway at Østbyveien 187 A (not B — that's our neighbour's entrance).
- Type the code into the keypad by the main door. The door clicks open and swings towards you.
- When you close it behind you, it locks itself automatically after about 30 seconds.
If the code doesn't work
Three common causes, in order:
- Wrong day. The code activates at 15:00 on the day of check-in. If you're arriving earlier, let us know and we'll sort it out.
- Low batteries in the lock. This happens about once a year. Each door has a physical key override hidden somewhere on the property — we tell you where in the welcome message.
- The network is down. The locks work offline for up to 30 days, but new codes can't be provisioned during that window. Call us and we'll get you in.
Our number is in the welcome message and in the Useful contacts section.
During your stay
- The main door self-locks. You can always get out without a code (just turn the handle).
- All other external doors (basement entrance, summer house, garage) use the same code as the main entrance.
- The garage door opens from inside the garage — no code needed.
At checkout
Just close the door behind you. The code expires automatically at 11:00 on the checkout day, so there's no risk of accidentally locking yourself out of anything.
